Cultural placemaking through creativity, the arts and entrepreneurship:
An innovative and successful creative, cultural and economic development programme, we wanted to showcase the underpinning innovation, inventiveness, interpretation, inclusiveness and diversity that jazz culture has always and continues to represent. We successfully conceived, designed and produced JazzEast, our inaugural community focussed live music festival, in the London Borough of Waltham Forest, The Mayor of London’s first ever Borough of Culture. In the build-up and subsequent to a one day indoor festival in Autumn 2019, we worked across the Borough to engage schools, colleges, universities and music conservatoire’s and a wide range of industry professionals as volunteers to support new and emerging talent keen to work in the music business.
“As a school student, a composer and a huge music fan, I got some amazing work experience! In the months before the concerts, the JazzEast programme got us to work with other volunteer performers, producers, businesses to get a real taste of what the music business is all about and we were pleased and surprised to see the arts and businesses working so closely together to the same end”
