Our flagship economic, social and physical regeneration project, The Hive Enterprise Centre in Southend-on-Sea, Essex is an exciting affordable, flexible workspace hub operated on a not-for-profit basis and in partnership with Southend Borough Council. Following a successful public tender, we were appointed to develop a ten-year strategy for The Hive and to manage the day-to-day management of operations, financial and marketing systems in line with a high level vision for an small business hub in the town centre. Regenerating over 15000 square feet of the redundant former Central Reference Library space in an iconic heritage building, The Hive opened for business on time and on budget and started delivering its local community impacts from Day One. In its first five years of operations, The Hive has worked with over 6000 local beneficiaries, set up the Central Government endorsed TechCityOnSea, achieved over £1m in sustainable revenue, made £ ½ million pounds in cash savings for Southend Council and added around £35m in Gross Value Added to the local economy…not bad for a start-up!
“What makes The Hive a great place to work is the hospitality of their Team and their commitment to make sure we can share ideas and collaborate with other businesses in the Centre and elsewhere helping us keep our businesses alive and growing.”
Ngozi O, Hive Southend Member
